Hello all
I've started to research my 5xGrt Uncle Simon Fletcher who was said to have been at the Battle of Waterloo and was wounded.
Can anybody please fill in some details for me as to what exactly he did during the battle or where he was wounded etc?
I know next to nothing about his exploits but would love to know.
Many thanks
Danny Wilson

Hi Danny
I think this is likely to be your man: https://discovery.nationalarchives.go...ls/r/C10701129.
You would be able to read it all for free at TNA, but that might be too long a journey. Some, or all(?), of it is available on FMP, the subscription site.
I've checked the initial list of Waterloo casualties that was posted in The Times of 22 June 1815 but cannot see his name there. (Go to the Newspapers Forum on Brit Gen and scroll down for that copy of The Times.)
Hope this will give you some leads.

EBook from original sources, 1815
Good morning
Have just found this useful-looking book on Google Books: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=a...erloo)&f=false. Haven't got all morning to browse it, alas, but looks fascinating, e.g info about subscriptions raised locally to help support a veteran, individual accounts etc etc. Don't know if you will find Simon Weldon there, but you will get a picture of life at that time.
And the best news of all - it is free to download!

You might want to try looking up info on Moresby Hall and also Clea Hall for some more interesting info on the Fletchers.

Hiya Sandral.
Does the Fletchers you hav posted about have anything to do with my Simon Fletcher?
Sorry if I'm being daft but I'm really not sure.

I did a search on this site with his name and this came up on the query. There are quite a few links came up so I will take a look for you too.
