Hi all
One of my wife's relatives has an entry - with his wife - on the 1936 electoral roll for Coty of London, Farringdon Without Ward - EC4. By each of their entry there is a separate address with the word 'Abode' by the side.
Please could someone explain why an individual and their partner would hold 2 addresses.
Thank you in advance

Did they have some sort of business premises? Or own a house they rented out?

Oh Hi - thanks for the really quick response.
I know that my wife's uncle was an artist originally from Swansea and obviously moved to London as per the electoral rolls. I have been trying to match up the address in Farringdon Road between the years of 1926 and 36 to ascertain whether he did indeed have business premises but have had no luck so far. I am assuming that his wife worked with him in the City as she is also on the register.
As far as the renting out of property - could it be that they were owners of both properties or perhaps rented the City of London address if indeed it was a shop.
Any comments would be grateful.
Thank you

We didn't get "one person one vote" until 1948!
In 1936 some people would have got an additional "business vote".
