Mis-filed (and not indexed) with one of the many Thomas Scotts in the WW1 Service Records (WO 363):
Walter LAIDLAW, born Selkirk, enlisted at Berwick, declared age 21yr 2m in December 1915. Reg No 31855 (this is replaced, but I cannot decipher it). De-mobbed 1920.
Unfortunately, no family info, but if you're an optician you may understand his eye test!

There are two Walter Laidlaws in the Selkirkshire Birth Registry
LAIDLAW WALTER M 1894 Yarrow
LAIDLAW WALTER M 1895 Selkirk

Walter Laidlaw 31855 and then 428411, Royal Scots and then Labour Corps. His medal card only shows the Victory medal.
No service record.
