    Hi Geneius,
let me answer for point 1:
for Henry, the eldest son, the overseas detah record point to Charles's youngest son, born 1866 in Costantinople, and died there at ten, in 1876 (GRO cert in my hand) (and info about baptism got from anglican church in Istanbul).
Henry Hamilton, son of George and Elizabeth, is like a ghost: just have some merchant navy ticket (for example:
https://s20.postimg.org/xkdxrzz31/585...LTON_HENRY.jpg), but no info about marriages, descendants, death.

For other info: mostly already known (see my family tree Hamilton under ancestry).

The problem is not descendants, but ancestors.
The oldest "absolute" (the one about whom there are no doubts at all) ancestor is George Hamilton, born 1782 in Leatherhead, son of Joseph and Eleanor Hamilton (as for George's baptism). Anyway, George had a daughter named Eleanor Brown Hamilton, and this fact leads me to think his mother was named Eleanor Brown.

    This are the facts!!
But at the moment, searching back for George's (and mine) ancestors is making speculations, trying to prove them with other facts!!

    Point 3:
    Too many Marys.
The one who was sister to my gg gf Charles was born 1831. Looking into 1841 Census, for the one born 1832 there are unknown names; it's another family (nevertheless I'll give a look).

#33 That is what I thought, but researching John & Elizabeth isn't as easy as I thought it should be...partic as surname is not 'common'

Hello There. I am looking for a birth certificate of a child probably born in Turkey. The mother (my great grandmother) died there while living there for a few years. I see you were able to find a marriage from Constantinople. Do you have the address of the catholic parishes there so I can try contacting them? Did you write physical letters, or emails? Would they be listed in their records, even if they were British citizens? Would appreciate any advice you can offer!
