Default Henry Hook & Angelina Clark

Help needed to find birth/baptism and marriage details for Henry & Angelina Hook nee Clark

Henry Hook born abt 1823 Clapham, London/Surrey
Wife Angelina Clark born around 1834/1838 Bath, Somerset

I found a possible entry in the 1861 census for Henry Hook, agricultural servant, born Battersea 1823, unmarried and living in Twickenham.

1871 census Henry & Angelina, married and living at Brighton Place, Mortlake, Richmond, Surrey.
1st child Charlotte Hook (recorded as Cook) was born in 1862 Richmond, Surrey.
Henry died in 1877 and Angelina in 1906 both burials Richmond, Surrey.

    Hello

Have you looked at the baptisms for the children, they are all 'Private Baptisms'! This is not shown on the familysearch.org site, but if you look at ancestry.co.uk you wil see the original entry.

    Charlotte bp 18/11/1862
William s/o Henry & Ann HOOK bp 7/10/1865
Henry s/o Henry & Ann Brighton Place 3/11/1869 St Mary Mortlakebu 6/11/1869 age 1 year 0 months
Henry bp 29/08/1871 St Mary Mortlake
Angelina bp 30/01/1876 St Mary Mortlake bu 12/02/1876 Aged 7 weeks
Thomas H is on the census but I cannot immed see a baptism
Annie Amelia 06/09/1882 d/o Ann St Mary Mortlake

I am wondering if the couple married, I cannot see a marriage of Henry HOOK to an ANgleina.

Where did you get the surname CLARK from!

geneius, I was also wandering where the Clarke name came from!

The only Henry Hook marriage to an Angelina I could find:
Henry Hook and Angelina Stapley Dec Q 1852 Battle, Sussex

Would it be from a birth certificate of one of the children? I guess that would be the best place to start to confirm mother's maiden name if it hasn't already been done.

I had noticed that all the children were privately baptised which l did find odd.
I got Angelina's name from their son's Henry's birth certificate, (my great grandfather).
I was thinking that perhaps they never married but l have never been able to pinpoint any baptism\births for them either.

I couldn't see a marriage either. I think I saw a birth of an Annie Charlotte Clark last night in 1862 in Richmond but no Charlotte Hook. Will have another look later.

Initially this looks like the correct marriage. looking at later censuses Angelina's birthplace is Seddlescombe and in 1851 ( HO107; Piece: 1636; Folio: 196; Page: 21) she is living with parents Charles and Rebecca .

She was baptised 26 aug 1832 at Sedlescombe according to Family Search

HOWEVER I have just noticed that there are two 1871 entries for HEnry Hook and Angelina. in one - presumably Angelina Stapley they are living at Seddlescombe with children Henry, Agnes, Thomas, George and Alice and Henry's father Thomas ( RG10; Piece: 1035; Folio: 21; Page: 14)
In the other, at Mortlake with children Charlotte and William. (RG10; Piece: 870; Folio: 108; Page: 4) It is this Angelina who is born (1837)Bath!
