    Yes Phillip
Debbie was looking for a link to Geoff Lloyd of NZ. Geoff is now Geoff Isaacs, so you can see a link was indeed proven, however not to Leon but to John Lewis Isaacs my g g grandad. My g grandad was Elijah and Geoff's was Lewis, two sons of John Lewis Isaacs.
Our DNA is very close with 45/47 matches.
Sadly, it looks like Leon did not pass his Y-DNA on as his first son Judah died at 11 and his second, Alexander never married (at least I can find no evidence of this). I did find a reference to a William Woolfe Isaacs who died in 1911, but no record other than his death... except

Newspaper record of Death 1897 which mentions "W"
ISAACS.-July 12, at the Hospice, Hannah, third daughter
of the late Leon Lewis Isaacs, and sister of Mrs. S. deFix this text
Groen, Mrs. W. Collins, and A. and W. Isaacs.

If he married there's a chance his DNA was passed on, but up to now...nothing.

Allan-I note on the Australian Jewish Historical Society Journal. Cumulative Index by categories 1939-2010 - names- references to Leon Lewis Isaacs - Sydney and other Isaacs. I have a copy of one of the journals so know what it contains and am aware that specific references to families or individuals can be scant or detailed depending on the specific article. You may want to look at the index and note the various relevant entries. You may want to post on British Jewry for Australian researchers who have access to the AJHSJ and can do 'look ups'.

I have family connections to Sir Isaac Isaacs & his wife Deborah (nee Jacobs) - five of her aunts and uncles lines merge with various Nathan branches from my tree. Their (Sir Isaac' & Deborah) 2 daughters Marjorie & Nancy married my first cousins, both Cohen. And Deborah's sister married one of my Levy great grand uncles. I don't however know anything about Sir Isaac's ancestry and would like to find out.

I am a descendant of Rosetta Moses who married Wolf Lewis Pyke in Sydney and she was the daughter of Mordecai Moses , convict who arrived in 1836 and was the shammas of the York Street Synagogue until his death in 1865. [email protected]

That "John Lewis Isaacs" looks like a typo as the same chap is referred to by three names in the same article.
I've been searching the Sydney newspapers all morning and filling in missing dates.
I noticed that marriages sometimes took place at a neighbour's house, 597 George St South, that of John Isaacs. I believe he might have been the brother of Sir Isaac Isaacs the Gov Gen. I guess this John Isaacs might have been a friend (with a big house) rather than a relative.
Another odd link is a cemetery record of Rosetta (Rosa) Isaacs, wife of John. Annotated with Sarah de Groen (Leon Isaacs' daughter).

Rosetta (Rosa) Moses was the girl that Leon escorted to Sydney in 1841. Could she have married a John Isaacs?

Samson de Groen m 29 Jan 1862, d 1882 was son of Joseph de Groen and Brunetta of Rotterdam.

My mother was Adele De Groen, grand-daughter of Samson De Groen. I have a lot of information about the family in Australia. My wife is the retired archivist of the Australian Jewish Historical Society. Ian Bersten [email protected]
