Hi looking for information on ancestor named Charles Wright. He was sentenced in York(city of) West Riding Bradford in 16/7/1789.Hoping there is information on his age? Lots of convict information here after his arrival to Australia but documents differ his age by around twenty years.

Convict ancestor York?

Hi Marilyn,
I'm in a tearing hurry and I have no answers specifically on your man but I do have a place to look of which you may not be aware. If you have a library card for either the State Library of NSW or the National Library of Australia you can access the 19th Century British newspapers and see if you can find any reports on your man at the time of or before his trial. If not you're in Sydney so you could go to the State Library and collect one rather than waiting for it to arrive by post.
Good luck
Jane
