I am looking for Joseph and Alice Abbott with children Olive b1820 and Thomas b1829.
Thomas is living with Blakey Hartley in Colne on the 1851 census.
Any help would be appreciated.

I know you probably have all this but I am trying to get some identifiers for Alice and Joseph. They may have died before the 1841 census.

Thank you Christanel for your help.
They just seem to have disappeared as I can't find a death for either of them or what happened to Olive.

The original image for Olive's christening has their home as Hunslett Fold in the Parish of Leeds, Yorkshire. So they took their daughter back to their home parish for her baptism.
Still trying to find something else on Joseph, Alice and Olive.

Hi Christanel
Interesting Looking at marriage details for this Thomas living with Blakey Hartley...
It was transcribed wrongly on Anc originally as Thomas Tibbert then corrected to Thomas Abbott.
Thomas Abbott married Rachel Atkinson 28 July 1851 at Barnoldswick York
Grooms father Blackey Hartley Brides father Thomas Atkinson.
The Betty and Blackey Hartley on census were wed in Colne Lancs 31 Aug 1822 Betty was Betty Brown.
So what is the relationship between Thomas and the Hartleys...Maybe they took him after the death of his parents..?But he wasnt using Hartley yet he names Blackey as his father?
On 1861 census Thomas has named one of his sons Blackey Hartley Abbott.
RG 9; Piece: 3184; Folio: 66; Page: 36 Barnoldswick Yorkshire.

Hi valg
thank you for your help with this. I wasn't able to get back to it before now but will take another look a little later. You could be right about the adoption but I think I looked at the Hartley's in 1841 and Thomas wasn't with them? I'll have to check on that.

Yes you are right..he doesnt appear to be with them in 1841 although I am having a little trouble sorting out the Blackey Hartleys in 1841..who would have thought there would be more than one with that name! The one I looked at had the Hargreaves living with him..cant seem to find one with him and Betty together. It is annoying me that he would name Blackey as his father...why ???? If they adopted him it would be usual for him to be listed on census as Hartley maybe he just concidered him as the only father he had known and so hense the marriage entry..
There is a burial for a Joseph Abbott aged 0 in Blackburn 25 May 1830...cant find a baptism to match..could this have been another child for Joseph and Alice? Could Alice have died in childbirth??
Looking at OPC but no parents listed for this Joseph he was 6 mths old..Buried St Mary the Virgin Blackburn.

Looking at burial records for Colne/Blackburn/Burnley.
The cemeteries at Colne and Blackburn didnt open until later so if there are burials think they would be St Peter Burnley records held by Lancashire record office. Think maybe contacting them may be an idea worth concidering.
