MARY TOBIN from Stanford-in-the-Vale, Faringdon was probably born around late 1700s to early 1800s. She had a child in Canada in 1830 with her husband GEORGE JAMES LEE (husband probably Irish).
Documents state she originated in Stanford-in-the-Vale, Faringdon, BERLIN, England. Does anyone know more about Berlin? Was under the impression that the county was Berkshire back in early 1800s...
Looking for MARY TOBIN'S BIRTH/BAPTISM, MARRIAGE AND MIGRATION TO CANADA IN EARLY 1800s.
Would appreciate any help someone may have.
Thanking you in advance.

Hallo Lise, and a very warm welcome to BG. I have moved your post to the Oxfordshire forum, although I believe Stanford in the Vale was originally in Berkshire. I can always move it again if necessary, but it is more likely to be seen here than in Navigating Brit-Gen

I have never heard of a Berlin in the UK. I wonder whether the address was originally written as Faringdon, Berks (Berks being the standard abbreviation for Berkshire) and the handwriting was misread as Berlin if the right hand part of the k got separated, making it look like Berl..?
