Hi please can someone help me find the parents of
Winifred Jenkins born 1920 ish Pontypridd
Winifred married Harold William Hart in 1939 Pontypridd.
I have been told that Winifred's mothers name was Ada Winifred ? and from Bristol.Father ? Jenkins.
I think that the family would be living in the Pontypridd district.
I have been looking but am unable to see census information which is only up to 1911
I have found a birth for a Winifred Jenkins in Ponty saying mothers maiden name Winterburn so I looked for a marraige to a Jenkins and it said Alice Winterburn so I got a bit stuck then.

Sorry I have got it wrong.I think that Winifreds name was Ada W Jenkins.Mothers maiden name Darch.

You will have to work back from known facts.

You know that Winifred married in 1939. You need to get that marriage certificate because it will give you her father's name. It may also give you her age.

Unless you have a specific birth date to work from starting looking for births is likely to be fruitless journey. This is in part because there are 3 Winifred Jenkins born about the right time in Pontypridd:

1919 - mother's name Cossey
1920 - mother's name Winterburn
1923 - mother's name Arberry

If your source about her mother's forenames is right then the right marriage might be: 1909 Merthry Tydfil - George Jenkins and Winifred Ada Wyatt. The only problem here is that I can't see a birth anywhere of a Winifred Jenkins whose mother's maiden name was Wyatt.

So as I said at the beginning, the first step should be her marriage certificate.

Ada W Jenkins born Pontypridd 1920

There is no marriage between a Mr Jenkins and Ms Darch between 1900-1920. However in 1922 in Pontypridd a Frederick J Jenkins married an Ada J Darch.

I still think that you should get the 1939 marriage certificate to confirm that Frederick was her father.

Do you have Winifred's marriage certificate to Harold Hart? If so, that will have Winifred's father's name which would make it easier to trace her parents' names.

I do not have any cert as yet.Only today I started searching.It is not my family,I am searching for an elderly neighbour.

There is this marriage

Marriages Jun 1897 Bedminster 5c 1196
Ada Jane DARCH married Frederick WYATT

Now say Frederick WYATT dies (haven't looked for a death) or maybe they just split up.

Ada Jane takes up her maiden name of DARCH and starts a relationship with one Frederick J JENKINS in Pontypridd and they have a child in 1920

Births Dec 1920 Pontypridd 11a 1339
Ada W JENKINS mothers name DARCH

A couple of years later they decide to get married

Marriages Dec 1922 Pontypridd 11a 1136
Frederick J JENKINS married Ada J WYATT
also
Frederick J JENKINS married Ada J DARCH

This has been entered twice as the spouse's name is shown as WYATT or DARCH

Now as suggested by Megan, you need to get Ada and Harold's wedding certificate to find out if her father was Frederick.

What about Lily Jenkins born 1914 to Darch and Jenkins.
Where did Wyatt and Darch's children go ?

The release of censuses have only reached 1911 so finding out where Liliy M came from or went to is a difficult one. Like I said in my first post this is pure speculation until you have the marriage cert for Ada and Harold.
