    Question different names for Ada

    I need some help again
    Would the name Ada be short for Alice

    They are in fact quite distinct names and, according to the Oxford Dictionary of First Names, they have no connection at all. On the other hand there's nothing that would prevent either name being used as a 'pet' name instead of a given birth name e.g. if an Ada didn't like her name she might get her friends and family to call her Alice instead.

    Presumably you have a particular query in mind. Can you post it so that we could have a look and see what we think?
