Well, that's it.

I'm officially burnt out on this brickwall and am feeling a bit burnt out on family history too at the moment. I've tried almost everything I can think of to get past it, and the remainder of the things are very much in the grasping at extremely small straws category. At this point in the time I'm thinking it isn't possible to definitively prove Mercy's maiden name. Unless I get a hold of a completely unexpected clue whilst doing other research, I don't see this advancing any further.

A long awaited update!

Brickwall is still up, but I’ve found Edwin Bedford, son of Edward and Jane Bedford (nee Smith?, daughter of Thomas Smith and Anne Allen?) of Droitwich, associated with Edwin Dingley, grandson of Clement Dingley and Ann Allen. Bedford was a chief merchant in the Royal African Company, whilst Dingley was a writer (ie, of stock options). They went out to Fort Williams, Whydah, on the same ship in 1724, and Dingley was a witness to Bedford’s will
