    Default Hugh IV Scotland connection

Hi, I am researching Hugh IV, Duke of Burgundy.
I would be really grateful if someone could help me figure out the following:
On Wikipedia, it states that his lineage and ancestry includes kings of Scotland

    https://
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugh_IV,_Duke_of_Burgundy

I have checked the references it provides at the bottom of the page, but I am not sure about how to interpret the information so that I can create a line of names going from the Scottish kings to Hugh IV Duke of Burgundy (which is basically what I am trying to achieve).

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

There is a descendants chart on this site
    https://
    our-royal-titled-noble-and-commoner-ancestors.com/p589.htm

Sorry, I became quite confused, it states he was b. 9 March 1212, d. 27 October 1272 and there seems quite a bit before that but not much after. I suppose the only way is to follow their children and their children and their children and probably their children.

There is also a pedigree chart for him on this site.
    https://
    fabpedigree.com/s048/f500383.htm

I can see there is a Portuguese connection
It says he was the 12-Great Grandfather of George the I and the 20-Great Grandfather of Winston Churchill, amongst others.

but I still cannot see a Scottish Connection and can only suggest you follow the linage of Robert de Bruce. Sorry.

There's so much bad medieval genealogy online that I find myself doubting almost everything. Unfortunately once you get into the medieval period a lot of people don't concern themselves too much with checking their facts. I guess that's inevitable when the original documents are in languages and handwriting that most of us will never get to grips with.

You will probably find all sorts of conflicting information online. It is up to you to decide who knows what they're talking about.
I have no idea in this case!

However, here is one version of events . . . Malcolm IV of Scotland, William I of Scotland and the Dukes of Burgundy are all shown as descendants of Robert II Capet "the Pious", King of France (972-1031) in a pedigree here:

    https://www.
    robertsewell.ca/capet.html

It seems to be put together from a small selection of published sources. The author claims these are 'considered reliable' but you'd need to look at those sources to see what evidence they quote for their claims and then judge for yourself.

I’m sure this is not what you’re after but working from Michael Maclagan’s “Lines of Succession” (Little, Brown; 1999) there is a fairly straightforward link between Hugh IV of Burgundy and Alexander III of Scotland.

Hugh IV’s son Eudo, Count of Nevers (1230-1269: Wikipedia calls him Odo with a different death date) had a daughter Yolante (died 1280).

Yolante married Robert III, Count of Flanders (1249-1322). Robert III’s father was Guy, Count of Flanders (c1226-1305) whose daughter Margaret (Robert III’s half-sister) married Alexander (1264-1330) whose own father was Alexander III, King of Scots (1241-1286).

Not lineage as such but for what it is, it works. Time for bed I think!
