    Hello Orinda

Not much to go on,but I did find a Margaret Puskinigas recorded in the death registers for Widnes. Although she has died in the Leigh area her address was 32 Margaret Street Widnes. Unfortunately this area of Widnes has long been demolished and redeveloped.

I have two books concerning the history of Widnes which covers immigrants from Poland and Lithuania coming here. If I find anything I will let you know.

    Default Margaret Puskunigas

    Hello Geoffrey:
I guess I should give you some more information about this family:
    Stanislaus Puskunigas (lithuanian)
Annie Astrowski (Lithuanian)? possible name change from Astrauskaus
    Stanislaus Puskunigas d.o.b. 1923 Prescott
    Harry Puskunigas d.o.b. 1925 Leigh
    Fred Puskunigas d.o.b. 1928 Leigh
    Kathleen Puskunigas d.o.b. 1929 Leigh
    Vincent Puskunigas d.o.b. 1932 Leigh
    Marion Puskunigas d.o.b. 1935 Leigh

Annie Astrowski Puskunigas died in 1937 and Stanislaus Puskunigas died in 1978
Perhaps watch repair shop was in Leigh but I know the family lived in Widnes.
I would try to buy a Kelly's Gore directory but have no idea which one to purchase.
Don't know anything about a Margaret Puskunigas. Also when Annie died Kathleen
and Vincent were place in a Catholic orphanage. Would you have any idea which one?
    The family does not know.

    Thanks so much Orinda

    Welcome to the forum.

I don't know if you have the marriage certificate of Annie and Stanislaus. They married in 1923 in Prescott and the certificate should give you his occupation and address at that time. If you are lucky it will pin them down a bit closer.

If you do have the certificate then perhaps you could tell us the occupation and address of the groom.

If I have the correct gentleman, his service record is available.
He served in the 9th Russian Labour Corps, number 556388.
At the time of enlistment he was a collier and had spent 8 years down the mines and 4 years as an engineers labourer.

His next of kin is stated as Mrs Jane Jameson of 49 Lingard? Street, Leigh.

But, I am not sure that information helps to identify the watch repair shop.

    Default Stanislaus Puskunigas

    Hello:
No I do not have their marriage certificate. However I do have papers when he applied for
naturalization as a UK citizenship. He was an illegal alien. After coming out of World War I he
applied for the naturalization. I have just looked at those papers again and found that he said he
planned on opening a business as a watch and clock repairer in Leigh.
From the family I know that to be true. As far as what he did before that I am not sure it says
on his papers he was a cabinet maker.

    Regards and thanks,

    Orinda

    Hello:
Yes the above is true, but not sure what his relationship was to a Mrs. Jane Jameson from 49 Lingard St. have
no idea he used to board with the family.

    regards

Then it may well be worth ordering the marriage certificate from the GRO for £9.25.

You might well be lucky enough to find he lived above the shop.

    Red face Manchester

    Hello:
I had the answer to my inquiry tucked away in some old papers that I reviewed and found
the information to be that his shop was in Altherton, Manchester.

Can you tell me where Stanislaus was a miner? Name of company and location?
