    Default Cavan Soldiers WW2

    Hi all.

Can anyone help. My Grandfather Patrick Eaton served during WW2 from about 1940 until the end of the war. He lived in Cavan and I wonder if people who lived in Cavan joined a particular Regiment. I don't have his Army number so I have no idea where he served or what Regiment he was with. I would realy appreciate any help. Many thanks,

    Patrick

I understand that volunteers from the Irish Republic could have joined any British Regiment. In view of Irish neutrality, it might have been politically difficult for the British Army to organise it any other way. According to some researchers, he would most probably NOT have joined one of the three Northern Ireland infantry regiments.
