    hi, folks im trying too find a baptism record for a john francis curley born in walsall staffs uk approx 1888 fathers name thomas curley he was a roman catholic any ideas from anyone would be welcomed thanks

    Classed as non conformist records, these maytbe be found on familysearch.org at RG4 - 8

    Familysearch has predominately CoE records digitalised and is only now starting to copy other denominations

    Best to stick to civil registration for this sort of period unless you have a good reason not to.

    In that case, you could ask the County Record Office about any deposits of RC records otherwise you may have to approach the individual church.

    I'm afraid 1888 will be too late for those series.

    Acording to Genuki, the original registers of St Mary RC Walsall (Baptisms 1830-1902) are deposited at Birmingham Diocesan Archives - perhaps worth further investigation.
