Thank you so much. I hadnt found them before but will certainly be looking there now. I have started my searches with Ancestry but find people post people without making sure they are the right ones.
This site is fantastic and have been given lots of good advice.

I have found an 1861 census, Margate, with a Sarah, born Barham c.1799 married to Henry Johnson, born c.1787, with son Isaac born c. 1831

I don't know whether this Sarah was Henry Johnson's second wife since the 1851 census has Henry with wife ANN and son Isaac

    I can't find a Henry Johnson marriage to a Sarah Clark(e) between 1851 and 1861.

    I can't find a Sarah Clark(e) born Barham, Kent c.1799

I have found a few Sarah Clark’s married to A Johnson in the Census but I couldn’t verify if she was the right Sarah.
What I definitely know is My John Clark had a sister Sarah who married to a Johnson and had a son John.
    I have three possibilities
John and Sarah born at Darenth
John and Sarah born at Eythorne
John and Sarah born at Faversham
We have lots of stories surrounding John about where he lived.
I think he was a bit of a story teller.
    Any help would be great.
John died in Tasmania, Australia in 1865 but we can’t find any evidence of him arriving here.
The first mention of him is his land grant in 1837.

on the Ancestry website, in a file called Tasmania Arrivals 1829-1957 there is a John Clark arrived Hobart April 1832 departed Gravesend, Kent, England December 1831 on the barque 'George Hibbert'

does the land grant mean he arrived 'voluntarily' as opposed to being transported ? I ask that because I found a few John Clarkes in another file, who had been transported to Tasmania.

Sorry if I have caused confusion. Thank you to everyone who has given me new ideas to follow.
I have been unable to find John Clark and a Sarah Clark both born in Sussex who have the same parents but have found some in Kent.
I had noted Johns arrival on two ships 1831 and 1832.
We don’t think he was a Convict as there would be records.
Another fact is that when he married Sarah Kellerway in Franklin, tasmania his marriage certificate said he was a widow.
