Hi to all ,
my grandparents where in service to the Rev edward Abbey Tindall at st catherines ,ventnor isle of wight .
iam trying to trace his date of death , the family story is that he died on a train circa 1930 , and this is why my grandparents moved to Portsmouth.
Can anyone enlighten me ?

This death announcement appeared in 'The Times' of Monday 19 October 1936:
'TINDALL. - On Oct. 15, 1936, suddenly, EDWARD
ABBEY TINDALL, M.A., of The Rectory, Wickhambreaux,
beloved husband of Annie Beatrice Tindall. Funeral at
Ocklynge Cemetery, Eastbourne, to-morrow (Tuesday)
at 12.30. Memorial service at St. Andrew's, Wickham-
breaux, at 12.30 same day. No flowers, by request.'

thank you , i wonder if he simply took up a new post in 1930 in wickhambreaux , the times does not state his age .

thank you for help , family rumour has it that my grandparents where left a sum of money in his will , and that they set up a shop in portsmouth with it ,would i find the details of his will or if it was probate is that the same as now that it meant he did not leave a will .

Yes, according to the Dover Express of 16 October 1936. You can see this on the British Newspaper Archive website. I don't have a subscription (and even if I did wouldn't be allowed to tell you what the article said!). However, I think it is OK to say what I can see in the free search results . . . namely that Rev. E. Abbey Tindall, who had been Rector of Wickhambreaux with Stodmarsh since 1930, died suddenly in London.

Dean, if you have access to Ancestry.com, you will see a bio from Cambridge University Alumni 1261-1900 about him. One item states he was a Vicar at Ventnor, I.o.W from 1920 to 1930.
