    Ten million pages of historic Australian Newspapers are now available in Trove, with the arrival of the Saturday 31 July edition of The Leader from Orange, NSW. There now TEN million pagesand ONE HUNDRED million articles now available through Trove. This represents a significant milestone for the National Library initiative, the Australian Newspaper Digitisation Program, which was launched in 2008 as a project to provide free access to text-searchable digitised Australian newspapers.

    Thanks for this Sandra. I'll go and take a look at The Leader and see if there are any reports of OH's family's exploits.

    The Newcastle Chronicle is now accessible. It's successor, The Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners Advocate will soon follow. Unfortunately the very first Newcastle paper from the earliest years (the name escapes me) will never appear as all issues are believed to be totally lost.

    Now available through Trove: Tasmania’s Huon Times, supported by the Tasmanian Archives and Heritage Office, Queensland’s South Coast Bulletin, supported by City of Gold Coast Libraries and The Australian Producer’s Home Journal, supported by the State Library of NSW as part of the Digital Excellence Program, funded by the NSW Government.

    Two of Australia’s major regional newspapers—the Newcastle Morning Herald and The Illawarra Mercury—now freely available on Trove. The Newcastle Morning Herald was selected for digitisation by the National Library under its Australian Newspaper Plan and the digitisation of The Illawarra Mercury was supported by the Wollongong City Council Library and the University of Wollongong.

    So hopefully there'll be a few treasures there for some of you.

    Trove now provides access to The Port Adelaide Post Shipping Gazette, Farmers and Commercial Register, supported by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and Port Adelaide Enfield Public Library Service; the Riverina Times, Hay Standard and Journal of Water Conservation, supported by Hay Historical Society; and the Temora Herald and Mining Journal, supported by the Temora Shire Heritage Committee.
