It is often confusing when searching for your ancestors to know the places they came from and the counties to search in.
https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/Britain.html
has a wonderful map that leads you to information on each of the counties.
Click on them (their Chapman Codes) and enjoy exploring your ancestors origins.

Thats a really useful map Mutley.
I always struggle with the Welsh counties, now I can see at a glance exactly where they are in relation to each other!

Mutley,
Thanks so much for posting this map. I have it bookmarked now. On one page I have the Chapman codes and where they go, as well as the geography, which I'm still learning. Very useful.

Really useful to me as I flunked Geography!!
Any chance that sites such as A. & FMP may correct their transcriptions? Personally, I doubt it!!!

Do remember that you can click on each of the counties to find out all about them.
Churches and where their records are held, links to directories, maps, archives, towns and all sorts of other information and links.
Under the map is a mine of information that may just, if you are lucky, include your family name.
