Default Are there any old train enthusiasts out there

My great grandfather David Sweeney(McSweeney)b. 1860...was a train engine driver on the Mallow to Tralee line. The family were in Mallow most of the time, but sometime after 1891 they relocated to Kenmare, where they can be seen on 1901 census living at 10 Rock Lane, Killowen, Kenmare. They had their last child in Kenmare in 1897. Then sometime after that, they moved back to Mallow, where David died very prematurely at age 45. We have sent to Mallow Heritage for death cert. it will be interesting to find the cause...

I was wondering if anyone knows if any railway personel records were kept or any history of that rail line.

    Thank you in advance
    Pamela

    Hello Pamela,

Maybe the Irish Railway Record Society would be able to help you:
