3 generations of Pirnie men were master masons. All named Alexander. Lived in Dundee, Edinburgh and latterly Hawick, Scotland between 1770 and 1871. Alexander Pirnie, Born 1824, d. 1879 was my gg grandfather. Family legend has him working on the Wallace Monument at Stirling, he also was involved in numerous buildings around Roxburshire. Any additional information is greatly received.

Hi Thanks for response - yes this census record is indeed the Alexander Pirnie's that I described. I do already have this record. I have a reasonable amount of info on Alexander Pirnie, born 1824 but very, very little on his father Alexander and grandfather Alexander (all masons) I have found very few records on Scotlands People - and also have found a few red herrings which I have eliminated after finding different families on Ancestry.com who "lay claim" to them. lol. I believe my Pirnie chain hail from Dundee/Monifieth area - so have been trying the mason link to see whether the Pirnie name is recorded in any mason records. Thanks again for your prompt reply to my post.
