Well done Christanel - but some bad news I'm afraid about poor old Amy’s dad. He seems to have gone bankrupt in 1847. See: https://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/20716/pages/1135

William Redgate 53 born Arnold Notts
    George son 28 Notts
    Albert T 28 Radford Notts
    William Massey grandson 7 Notts
Emma Cooke servant 16 Arnold Notts
All the Redgate men are Musicians

If Abert and George are twins why didn't George have Radford Notts as birthplace the same as Albert

I checked the birth indexes: no birth of an Amy Redgate in Nottingamshire that I can see.

Christanel - you get a special prize if you can find Esther, Emily & Albert in 1841

I found an Amelia Cooke in the 1871 census, born 1866 Nottinghamshire, daughter of William Cooke and Maria. I'm fairly certain that that is the Amy Cooke born in 1866.

I couldn't find her in the 1881 census.

No I can't find anything either t@nya and I also looked just for an Amy, any surname, in Nottingam and ther is this one in light of Esther's maiden name but why would Amy be reg under Taylor if her parent was a child of William and esther?

It seems more likely that Amy is a granddaughter than a daughter. At my calculation, Esther would have been 63 at the time of the birth. Either that, or she was adopted.

    1841 Census: HO107/871 book/folio 6/19 p. 30
    Address: Castle Gate, Nottingham
Esther, Emily & Albert are there but William is missing. The surname the enumerator gave them is something like REDJAH.

    I’ve a good candidate for the missing William in 1841. HO107/198 book/folio 12/41 p. 9 [bottom of LH page]
    Address: Coldwell Street, Wirksworth, Derbyshire
William Redgate, age 30, music (something I can’t make out), not born in county.
