I am trying to establish the regiment which James Robert Parmiter served with and to discover the date of James' death - as his wife, Annie, is the only parent mentioned on the CWGC database entry for their son Hugh Norman Trevick Parmiter, whose story I am investigating. Two of her children were born in Egypt between 1891 and 1893, three in India between 1896 and 1898 and one in Dorchester in 1901. This latter suggests that James was in the Dorsetshire Regt. He is not at home in the 1901 census.
Many thanks for any help you can give.
With best wishes,
David

Hi David
The reason that he was not at home in 1901 is that he was a Sergeant in the Dorset Regiment attending the School of Musketry in Kent. If you have access to the 1911 census you will find that he had retired to near Salisbury.

Sorry, can't find the death.
Perhaps you will find it on Wimbourne parish records.
