    Hello Wendy,

This is the official name for Griffiths Valuation of Ireland, which detailed the names of all property occupiers, as well as owners, and the value of their house and land.

All the Irish censuses from 1841 to 1891 have been destroyed and so other sources have been used to provide genealogical information for the 1800s. Griffiths was compiled in the period c 1847 – 1862. It lists the person who leased or owned land or property. However it doesn’t list other members of the household, and it differs from a census in that not all people living in Ireland are included. AS an example, servants, visitors, and most people living in cities and large towns are not included.
