Hello,
I have just been looking at the following census return for 1871
Class: RG10; Piece: 4018; Folio: 126; Page: 18
My g/g/grandmother, Elizabeth Marchant states that she was born in Brownshood, County Wexford. I have looked at a Google map of Wexford and I have searched the list of towns and villages in Ireland, in Wikipedia, but I am unable to find the village/town in either place.
Has anyone any idea where it is?
Thank you,
Josie

I'd say it's probably Brownswood which is in Templeshannon parish, and is just south of Enniscorthy. You can find it on Google Earth.

Good morning Elwyn,
Thank you very much! I've just found it on Google Maps and in a list of townlands of County Wexford.
Best wishes,
Josie

Hello Jack,
Thank you very much for your interest! Elizabeth Marchant's maiden name was Eliza Murphy. She married Bernard Gorman at St Andrew's Church in Dublin on 6 February 1835. After his death, she came to England and married Edward Marchant in Salford in 1865. [I guess she was lying about her age, in 1871!]
Best wishes,
