Hi all,
I desperately need some help. It is possible the above is the chap I have been looking for! However, he died on 17.11.1764, was a soldier and his marital status says "unknown". It does not say where he was born.
How do I research a soldier (other than the NA site which I cannot navigate) who died so long ago. I really need his wife to be Elizabeth (maiden name unknown but who remarried in 1777 in All Saints, Stamford, Lincolnshire and his son (the only one I know of) who was also James Rowland b 1763 whose birth place has never been found - the answer of course may be India.
Which Regiments were serving in Calcutta in 1764? All this family were military and would expect the regiment to be Dragoons or Foot Regiment.
Any help gratefully received. Sue
