Hi all,
I have managed to trace back to my gt gt gt grandparents Thomas Hart married to Mary Geraghty. They lived in Derryfadda, Mayo the only dates I have for them is Thomas' death in 1879 in his 70's I believe. Any info would be welcome.

The only death in Mayo in 1879 for a Thomas Hart is registered in Castlebar, Oct – December quarter, Volume 4 page 71. (Surname is spelled Harte). He was aged 79 when he died.
Irish BDM certs are not viewable on line. If you think this is the right event and want the full details on the certificate you have to order a copy. You have a choice of options. You can order them from the local Registry Office or from GRO Roscommon. Personally, I use GRO Roscommon because they offer a photocopy option, which is cheaper than a full formal certificate. Provided you give them accurate information, and they don’t have to do any searching, a photocopy only costs €4.
Go to the GRO Roscommon website: www.groireland.ie/ Download the application forms you need, and fill them in with the information you have, including the location, year, quarter, Volume & page number mentioned above. Don’t worry if you have to leave some boxes blank. You then either fax or post the forms off to them (there is no e-mail option). It generally takes about 10 days from when they receive the order.
The death certificate should give you Thomas’s usual address. The informant may also be a relative, and normally their address will be given. That should give you clues as to where in Mayo to focus your search next.
