A very warm welcome to Brit-gen.
On the 1851 Census (HO107 1539 256 33) Thomas Richards gives his age as 56 (c.1795) and place of birth Usk, Monmouthshire.
FindMypast has the baptism (image) of
Thomas Richards, bap. 28 Sep 1794, place Llangwm, Monmouthshire, parents Joseph and Tracy(?). FMP has transcribed as "Tracy" but original looks like "Tacy". Llangwm very close to Usk. There is a 1791 baptism for a Thomas Richards, Usk but "your" Thomas' Census YoB (1795 in '51 and 1801 (rounded down) in '41) fits the 1794 baptism.
On the '51 Census Thomas is with Hannah, 56, born Bethnal Green, Jonathan, 19 and David 13. Address Old Castle St, Bethnal Green.
Nicodemus very elusive - there's a Shoreditch baptism on 14 Apr 1830, parents Thomas Richards and Hannah Newman, but precious little else at the moment.

FindMypast (image) has the baptism of
Joseph, son of Walter and Mary Richards, was baptised 13 Jul 1757, Usk, Monmouthshire.
The original is very difficult to make out but Walter's occupation might be "Fisherman"?"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

Thank you so very much for all of this wonderful information on the Richards. My father has recently passed and has been researching his tree for over 30years and even he could not get back further than Thomas and Hannah Richards (rather hard researching from New Zealand) so once again many many thanks we are just thrilled with this information

A note of caution. The names presented ares possibilities. For example, there's a Thomas Richards, bap 1791, Usk in the frame. Since posting I have found a parish burial for -
Thomas Richards, buried 16 Mar 1831, abode Usk, age 39 (born c.1792), Parish of Llanfair Cilgedin. This is a strong possibility for the Thomas born 1791 and strengthens the case for the 1794 baptism being "your" Thomas - but no guarantee!
I'm now having a look at the 1757 baptism of Joseph and searching for the marriage of his parents Walter and Mary. It's quite intriguing (but must break off, cauliflowers to plant!!)"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

FMP marriage (transcription only - the only FMP** Walter Richard/s Monmouthshire marriage 1757 +- 20 yrs)
Walter Richards, bachelor and Mary Evans, spinster, both of the Parish of Caldicot, by banns, place - Church of St. Mary, Caldicot, married on 25 May 1762. This is 5 years after Joseph's baptism. Then follow two baptisms
Mary Richards, bap. 21 Aug 1763, Usk, parents Walter and Mary - I can make out "Fisherman" on the original
William Richard (no "s"), bap. 30 Jun 1769, parents Walter and Mary - again I can make out "Fisherman" on the original.
** FreeReg has a Walter Richards marriage 3 Apr 1767 but this to a Susannah Powell. Free Reg als lists the witnesses at Walter/Mary's marriage as Edward Hutton and William Foord."dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

FMP baptisms (siblings of Thomas bap.28 Sep 1794, Llangwm)
Parents Joseph and Tacy Richards
Joseph 15 Jan 1784, Wolvesnewton; Mary 16 Jul 1786, Wolvesnewton; Jane 19 Oct 1788, Wolvesnewton; Walter 20 Feb 1791, Llangwm; Jemima 27 Nov 1796, Llangwm.
The naming of Mary and Walter may well link to Joseph's parents?
(Another break - planting silver beet!!)"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"
