Hello
I have been trying to find out my grandfather's name for approx 12 years and have finally plucked up the courage to ask a member of my family! They have given me the info and I have looked on various sites to try and find him. He would probably still be alive now and would be in his sixties so I don't want to post his name. Could anyone give me any advice on how to find out some info about him? I have posted on the Galway forum as this is where he came from. I do have more info if anyone can help, please PM me and I will let you have it.
Hope this makes sense
Thanks, Samantha

If he is still alive, he could be on the Ireland 1901-1911 census;
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie
Irish Civil Register;
https://www.labs.familysearch.org
and another way to find family, that might seem a bit strange, is to look at headstones in the local cemetery
as they give names,ages and some addresses.

I don't know for sure, but is there Irish telephone numbers/ directories online? If you have an idea where he may live you could search for his name on those lists. Perhaps there are papers in that area where you can search online obits as well.
