    hi Inez

His birth is indexed in Scotlands People. You can view index for free. If you register and buy credits (not too expensive) you will be able to download the certificate which will have details of his parents.

Hi Nadine - I posted this query for George Melvin, who was a grandson of William James Melvin. Since posting we'd found the date and place of landing in Canada but little else. His father Thomas and Uncle Bill apparently didn't travel with him. Their aunt Jessie did eventually join them. I hope to be able to locate information on William's wife.

    Gratefully,
    Inez

I'm hoping that it's the wife of William James Melvin (b 1890) who you're looking for.
There's a marriage indexed on SP for William James Melvin in 1918 in Bonhill, Dumbartonshire...
And a possibile birth for his son William in Dumbarton 1919 and Thomas in 1921.
If this is the right children, it looks like Thomas and William travelled to Canada with their Aunt Jessie and Uncle Donald Blair in 1929.

    Hope this helps

    Default Errant Granny

Hi Nadine - William James Melvin's estranged wife was named Mary Moore Watson per Scotlands People. It will likely be a bear tracking her down but we'll give it go.

    Cheers,

    Inez
