Thank you both - one other question, if I am putting a call out for relatives of the Smedley family in Deptford circa 1913 is this the best way to do it, and am I allowed to do that? I notice this is in the Romany section of the forum and I wasn't aware that was part of Harriet's heritage. At 15 she became a founder member of a new kind of children's colony which played a significant part in the development of education for troubled youngsters in Britain. Harriet herself later had a baby and went to work in the Hop fields in Kent. I have no idea when she died but it's possible she has second or third generation relatives still alive today.

Well, that's solved the mystery of not being able to find Harriet in this thread.
That post (#34) was made in another thread

Apart from details referring to various administrative districts, as far as I can see all the relevant details from the census entry have been transcribed.
The original poster in that thread (Joc_42) as well as several of the people who posted replies are no longer forum members and privacy laws forbid us from holding any details about them.Vulcan XH558 - “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”
