Can anyone help?
I am looking for information, and perhaps even a photo of Hilda Aymes.
As far as I know, Hilda was born about 1899 at Alderley Edge.
She lived at Moss Row, Alderley Edge with her parents, John Joseph Aymes, born about 1876 at Wilmslow, Cheshire, and Margaret (?) born about 1880 at Alderley Edge. They married in 1898.
Hilda married John Parker at the Methodist Church, (Chapel Street) in 1923 and had 2 sons, Reginald, born 1925, and John W. (known as Jackie) born in 1927.
Hilda died in 1949. When her widower remarried in 1952, all records of Hilda were destroyed.
I'm hoping that maybe somewhere out there, there is some other information, and maybe even a relative of Hilda's, who can help fill in any gaps.

Hi Sandra
Just a few questions please.
You have the marriage in 1898 but you don't know maiden name for Margaret?
Have you got Hilda and her parents in 1901 census please?
There are a lot of abouts in your post.
Thank you

Thank you both very much. Yes, there are quite a few 'abouts', but I am always reluctant to put definite dates unless I have primary evidence and I've only just started on this line.
The 1901 census definitely shows Heams, so either the enumerator didn't come from round there and couldn't understand the dialect, or maybe he was a bit hard of hearing!!!!! So thanks for that info georgiep.
Anyway, it is 'my' Hilda and she had plenty of siblings! So lots of leads.

Sorry, sorry , sorry Mr Enumerator.
It seems that there were no Aymes prior to 1900, they were Heams!
Marriage June Q 1897
Heams, John Joseph and Ridgway Margaret at Macclesfield 8a 210
and the rest of the family were Heams.
Now to work out why they changed their name.

Thanks for that. He was a bit old for that sort of thing so perhaps he wasn't physically well and the Depression wouldn't have helped. I've been a bit quiet on the geneo front lately.
life seems to get in the way!

Hi.. He wasn't that old. He had lost a wife and two daughters in the preceding few years. I also found out he had remarried in 1848....and three or four months later he hung himself. With his new wife pregnant. Glad he remarried... As I never found his first marriage to Honora rourke... The second marriage names his father as Walter Eames.. a publican. Don't know anything about heraldry and coats of arms I'm afraid.
