Covers period 1870-1880
A certain law tells me he'll be pre 1870 - in spite of age 30 on the 1901 Census!!

Thanks so much for your help.
I seem to be hitting a brick wall with info after he left France.
I will keep looking.
I am going to go back to Guernsey and see if i can find a lead there.
I am also going to check again see if i missed something.

hi Christanel--- My cousin in France found my Great Grand Father Military Record and his parents name and date of birth match.i don't know if this Marc Lancien from the 6th Dorset Regiment is related to my Great Grand Father. They could be.i know that Marc Lanien had a son named Marc Lancien who was 15yrs old at the start of WW1.they were in Jersey in Channel Islands. So i don't think its his son.I would have to see documents to see if i has his parents name. Thanks for this infomation. I will have to see if Marc Lancien from 6th Dorset Regiment is related to my Family.
