Default 1891 Lookup - POSSIBLY Limerick

    Hi, I'm back again!

I'm trying to find 1891 census details for Abel & Catherine Troth.
They married in Limerick 1890 (details kindly provided by another BG member) although details say ARTHUR and not Abel.
Their eldest daughter Mary E. was born in Limerick 1891.

Abel was b1868 - Bromsgrove, Worcs and was a Nail Maker.
    Catherine b1871 - Limerick.

1901 shows them living in Stoke on Trent and 1911 they're at Silsden, Yorks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks
    Sheila

    Hi Sheila,

There is a Abel Troth b abt 1862 Bromsgrove, Worcs (Nail Maker) and wife, Elizabeth
living in Worcestershire with their children, Jack and Samuel plus two boarders.

But not the ones you are seeking...

    Sorry, Deborah

Sounds like they were probably in Limerick in 1891.

    Quote from the irishtimes.com
Full government censuses were taken of the whole island in 1821, 1831, 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 1901, and 1911. The first four, for 1821, 1831, 1841, and 1851, were largely destroyed in 1922, in the fire at the Public Record Office; surviving fragments are detailed under the county source-lists. Those for 1861 1871 1881 and 1891 were completely destroyed earlier, by order of the government.

The most useful site to look first for general information is GenUKI. I would advise you to bookmark it

    https://www.genuki.org.uk/

GenUKI would have provided the information about Irish censuses that Mutley has just given you.

    Hi,
This is the 1st Irish census I've had to look up and didn't know where to look other than A******y - no luck there.
Thanks Deborah - but they are the wrong family.
Mutley - oh bother - looks like I'm out of luck again!
Peter - will have a look at site you've recommended.
Can't you tell I can't cut & paste!!! Complete computer novice!

Many thanks for all your help

    Hello Sheila,

Just a thought, but maybe the National Archives of Ireland (nationalarchives.ie) would be able to help by checking voters lists for information.

    Hi Jan1954
Thanks for that - will have a look.
As I've said, this is the first Irish enquiry I've come across in family tree and honestly have no idea where to look for any info.
    Many thanks
    Sheila

    Hello Sheila,

Have a look at this. I have the Dublin version and have found it to be invaluable.

Thanks again. Can't see why they call you a 'daft bat' - you're always so kind and willing to help. The number of posts prove this!
