    Default Bucknall from Birmingham?

I'm searching for ancesters of Edward Bucknall (b. c1720) known to have resided in Birmingham, Warwickshire. He married firstly unkown Gittins and had a son Samuel (b. 1763 d. May 1821) who married and Ann Clissold (b. 1765 d.1827) who was from a Mill owning family (Vatch mill) on the Slad Brook upstream NW of Stroud parish since 1592. This family moved to Stroud, Gloucestershire. Edward remarried to a Dorothy Cook (b. c1730) on 19 Sep 1766(St Martins, Birmingham, Warwickshire) and had four children: Ann, Sarah, Edward, and Thomas. It is believed they later lived in Aston, Warwickshire. Edward and his son Samuel Bucknall appears to have been involved with the 'New Church of Birmingham' 'New Jerusalem Temple' c1790s.

Smile How did your research go?

The Australian branch of the Bucknalls retain a strong interest in heritage. The puzzle remains about Edward and Samuel. We have documentation from the Swedenborgians (New Church) confirming residency in Birmingham. But is there evidence beyond folklore that suggests that Edward was a toy maker? And that he re-married Dorothy Cook at a ripe old age? The Bucknall name in Birmingham goes back a long way (with many Edwards) and then disappears for about 2 generations; wonder why? Then they suddenly appear again in the mid 1700s; where did they come from or why did they disappear? samuel's son Stephen went to Birmingham from Stroud, got married and baptised several children before departing for the USA; he was also a member of the Swedenborgians New Church in Birmingham; did he connect with relatives and if so, who? Several Bucknalls from Birmingham subsequently went to London to the same areas as many others with the same name and not far from where Samuel stayed for 2 years before Stroud; family connections? So many questions with intriguing possibilities!
