    Default Bettesworth of Hampshire

Has anyone any thoughts on how to solve the following problem ?.
6XGreat garndfather, John Bettesworth. Born C.1680.
He was a physician who settled in St.Hilary, near Penzance, Cornwall.
He was married before 1701 Could have been in Hampshire (Chichester ?).
His wifes name was Christian. Could possibly have been Catherine Christian(a).
Several generations after these carried this double Christian name.
John was quite possibly a Quaker (?).
Licence to practice issued by the Archbishop of Canterbury to John Bettesworth of Hampshire, a Quaker. Another entry in the same index mentions John Betesworth of Chichester. I cannot see that there would have been 2 with the same name, so assume they are one and the same.
Any pointers would be very welcome.
    Thanks, Roy White

Try going to A2A (Access to Archives) at https://www.a2a.org.uk/ and put the name Bettesworth in the search facility. There are a lot of 'hits' the first of many being connected with Chichester. You may find something of interest to follow up.

    Smile thanks ann

    Hello Ann,
What a wonderful site you mentioned.
Although there were many hundreds of Bettesworths there, none as yet match up. I would hazard a guess that they may well unite in the future so the information will not go to waste.
Thanks for taking the time to point this site out to me.
    Best wishes, Roy

Just had an idle moment and found another ref. which might be of use at https://www.lambethpalacelibrary.org/...edics_abc.html It's not much, but might be 'your' John Bettesworth. There may be more info to be had from the Library itself (you'll see what I mean when you go to the site )
    Best wishes
