Hi Guys,
I am interested in James PIERCE born 1829 in Hungerdford. He married Lucy ?? who was born in West Noddsy (lookslike) about 1828.
I have a rough idea that James' father was Thomas PEARCE who was married to a Mary ??
James had two sons Thomas born 1850 in Hungerford and James born 1856 Hungerford.
Thomas PEARSE married Emma ?? of Wimbledon and they had 5 chidren born in Wimbledon.
Anyone with similar connections to Berkshire Pearces please call.

Pierce/Pearce/Pearse Family of Hungerford
David,
I've had a scan through the 1851 census for each of the spellings. I cannot find a James of the right age or Lucy or Thomas (son). I have found the found the following possible:
Thomas Pearce - Head, age 52, Agricultural Labourer, b Hungerford BRK
Mary Pearce - Wife, age 53 b Chilton WIL
Emily Pearce - Daur, age 19, b Hungerford BRK
I'll have a bit more of a dig for some of the others in later years.
Regards
Harry

PIERCE/PEARCE/PEARCE Family of Hungerford
David,
I have found Thomas and Family in 1881 and 1901 (can't find them for 1871 or 1891):
1881
RG11/829
Copse Hill ?, 14 Thurston ? Road, Wimbledon
Thomas Pearse, Head, age 29, Gardener, b Berks Hungerford
Emma Pearse, Wife, age 32, b Surrey Wimbledon
Daughter, age 1mnth, b Surrey Wimbledon
1901
RG13/657
2 Lime Villas, Richmond Road, Wimbledon
Thos Pearce, Head, age 51, Gardener, b Wimbledon Surrey
Emma Pearce, Wife, age 52, b Wimbledon Surrey
Thos Pearce, Son, age 19, Carter ?, b Wimbledon Surrey
Emily Pearce, Daur, age 15, b Wimbledon Surrey
James Pearce, Son, age 13, b Wimbledon Surrey
Harry Pearce, Son, age 10, b Wimbledon Surrey
Nothing for James I'm afraid - a few possibles, but too vague dates and places of birth.

Hi David
I have a Pierce connection on the Berks/Hants borders.
Have you tried the records for Burghcler & Highclere?

Hi Ffortune
No I have not tried records for Burghcler & Highclere.
I have not been on this thread for a while.
Still interested in anything that turns up though.

Hi,
I think Lucy was born in West Woodhay. James and Lucy had 2 children, Thomas and Ellen, the James born in Wimbledon in 1873 was actually Ellen's son although in all Census recordings he is listed as James and Lucy's son. I have his birth cert and Ellen is definitely his mother, no father listed.
As for Thomas I have his as marrying Eliza Pither and settling in Berkshire, but I could be wrong.
