I have a copy of a family booklet written to celebrate a reunion for Thomas Bartle's descendants. According to the writer, Peter Bartle and wife and first two little ones went to the US as a visit, to gather information to take back to Blaenavon Ironworks, rather than to settle there. Thomas Bartle apparently recalled as a small child seeing his hat blow overboard into the Mississippi River, although he must have been quite small at the time. Shannon B.

Interesting - that means he didn't go only to Pennsylvania, as it's not on the Mississippi River... The Ohio River, which flows into the Mississippi River, begins in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, though... perhaps they vacationed to see the sights along both rivers... Pittsburgh was - and probably still is - a hub for steel working. Chances are that's where he went if he was going at the behest of iron manufacturers.

Not sure whether your interest is limited to Peter Bartle, but have you come across a family tree site called williamsfamilytree.co.uk which includes lots of Bartles and traces Peter's family several generations back into Cornwall? It also includes many other families and surnames so worth a look if you are interested in that line.
Peter's daughter Julia Ann Bartle married twice, her second husband being James Thompson Middlebrook, and there is an online resource created by a NZ Middlebrook descendant, Lauren Bavin, who organised a family reunion, which included some of Julia's descendants. so if you fancy seeing a photo of Julia, try searching for Middlebrook Family Reunion (or just search her name). I can't recall whether it includes a photo of her Bartle family or not. Lauren's site is a lovely example of how to share family history online, lots of photos and very engaging.
