    Hello Peter,
I am Brendan Campbell, and appear to be a distant cousin! My Great Grandfather was also Patrick Newport and I descend from his first child, William Newport.

I have researched the Newport paternal family tree going back 5 generations from Stephen Newport born abt. 1800 to Mary Flood Newport who died in 1953.

This volume contains a number of family photos and I would be more than happy to send copies should you so wish.

    Kind Regards
    Brendan Campbell

    A warm welcome to Brit-gen.
Are you familiar with Irish genealogy - https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en

Can spot a marriage of Patrick Newport/Anne Cousins - but the year of marriage is 1900. Patrick is a widower.
Found birth registrations for Edward and Maria Newport that fit their ages on the 1901 Census (father's name and occupation on birth registrations fit the father's name on the 1900 marriage registration.
But cannot spot a birth registration for Patrick.

Checked 1901 census - Patrick's age is 41 ie. born c.1860 This predates Irish birth registration which began 1864.
