Fact Sheet 89 National Archives of Australia
https://www.naa.gov.au/collection/fact-sheets/fs89.aspx
General information
Because each State or Territory in Australia maintains its own records searching can be more difficult. There are also privacy restrictions on the years that the available indexes cover. These restrictions vary from State to State.
Not all States or Territories have their indexes on-line. Also those that do may charge a search fee. The information provided in the indexes varies from State to State.
It is possible that a forum member may have the indexes on CD or have access to information on pay per view sites. So if the information you are needing is not on line please post a query in the relevant forum.
Some States allow Transcription Agents who will provide a copy of a certificate. The cost of the certificate may be reduced depending on what information the customer requests be transcribed. Use a search engine to enter 'transcription agents in Australia' Their charge may be less than that of the official State site.
