Family History Societies exist to support and promote genealogical research. They are very useful resources in providing help, access to others researching the same surname or area and many also publish transcripts and indexes of records which can be purchased in different formats and may be relevant to your research.

Most family history societies also send out a quarterly magazine which helps to keep you in touch.
