    Smile chase farm

I found this old post looking for chase farm, which is Nottingham, Mapperley Plains entrance.

My Ancestors lived there, so this is why I have come looking, did anyone find anymore information?

    Default chase farm hospital

    Hi,
Chase Farm Hospital I know well, it is situated between Enfield Middlesex and Potters Bar Hertfordshire, on a road called The Ridgeway, if this hospital features in any of your mothers photo's, can you show them I will then confirm if it is the correct hospital, it was a general hospital, but someone told me it now specialises in cancer patients.

    Hi

Having read through this thread and being a Nottingham girl, I would just like to correct something. The picture of the rotund building is not the one that was the Women's Hospital, which was on Peel St. The picture is of the old Nottingham General Hospital and I well remember looking up at that building for a glimpse of my Dad when he had his appendix out. I was only about 4 and children were not allowed to visit inpatients in those days. Both hospitals were closed when The Queens medical centre was opened. Sheila

The only Chase I recall is Robin Hood Chase. I believe though that many years ago there was an area from St Ann up to Mapperley plains that was called The Chase. This is where the Mapperley Hospitals were built.

This thread is very muddled. It is either about Chase Farm Hospital which is in Enfield or a hospital in Nottingham with a different name. It isn't about Chase Farm in Nottinghamshire.

There is a Chase Farm in current Ordnance Survey maps just south of Arnold although it appears to have been in the parish of Gedling (see the 1881 census for example). It doesn't look like the sort of place where there was ever any nurse training!

Post 11 states it isn't Peel St Sheila

    "Caliope,

The photo is of St James Terrace looking north. The Circular building is roughly on the corner of St James Terrace/Postern Street/Mount Street junction I believe.
We`ve never heard of Chase Farm in this household and we are local.

    spalli,

    Welcome to Bri-Gen.
Apologies this thread became misleading and we now understand that the original poster was seeking information about Chase Hospital (Enfield), which is definitely NOTHING to do with Chase Farm on Mapperley Plains.

    Hope this helps.

    Mitch
