I am seeking my great grandmother Louisa Frances COOPER. According to censuses from 1871 to 1901 she was born in Ryde, Isle of Wight 1839 - 1841. (1861 gives Portsmouth). By 1860 she was in Islington with husband Thomas LUCAS, from Llangurig. Cannot find marriage, birth or death as yet! Any help much appreciated

Hallo Donna
It seems that the references to Louisa's birth in Ryde are all false! It is pretty conclusive that she was born in Portsmouth, from whence she went to Tower Hamlets' orphanage in London, after the deaths of her parents.
I am afraid that COOPER is a very common name in Hampshire and especially on the Island, so I wish you luck with Rhonda! Sorry that I cannot provide a link.
Happy New Year
Robina
