    Janet,

The PRO has an Alphabetical list of Gun and Pistol Makers for Birmingham, Warwick 1792

I couldn't see a Perkins listed in it.

ok my cousin has been doing some research plus connected in with a Perkins Family Tree.

She is going to verify that Ann Horton is the Ann who married our Richard Perkins.

The information she had discovered via Ancestry is that

Susanna Horton m Richard Saunders and they had a son William

Ann Saunders then married Thomas Smithies

Then the next year she married Richard Perkins as Ann Sander/Ann Horton (Ann Sanders and Ann Horton appear to be the same person).

If the family tree is correct ( that also provides certificates) my Perkins line has been traced back to a birth in the year 1400

(we are now verifying the information ourselves)

If correct my Perkins family goes back to

Thomas Perikins who married Ellen Tompkins (born 1400) in Warwick.

they had a son William in 1430

Janet, my cousin was wrong about Ann Horton and Ann Saunders/Sanders being the same person as Ann Horton who Married Richard Perkins was a spinster.

I suspect though that Ann Sanders may have married the Richard Perkins in Aston Cantlow though.

    I just found a christening

Ann Horton 18 Nov 1773 St Phillips, Birmingham, Warwick parents Joseph Horton and Ann

My Richard and Ann's children were christened at St Phillips, Birmingham, Warwick and they commenced just after the marriage of an Ann Horton to Richard Perkins in 1796.

So sounds like mum had her children christened where she was christened.

someone in a genealogy forum has told me that to be of the parish you only had to be residents there for the qualifying period (approximately 3 weeks) to get married

    I just found a Richard Perkins b. 13 August 1754 c. 18 September 1754 (London City) Castle Baynard, St Benet f. William m Ann

This was 20 years before the apprentice indenture and means he would have been 42 when my Richard and Ann had Thomas in Birmingham.
