1st Regiment of Foot, 2nd Btn 1838-1859

I'm trying to find the dates of the movements of the 2nd battalion, 1st Regiment of Foot (The Royals).

My gt gt grandfather, John WATSON, served with the regiment from 1838-1859, and saw service in Canada, West Indies, Cephalonia & Gibralter, as well as Scotland and Ireland.

I do have a broad outline of dates, but would like more precise ones - which are available- but where?

If I can pin down exactly when he was in Bandon, County Cork, with the regiment, I'll hopefully have a better idea of when he married Catherine O'Connor!
