    Default Naylors!

    Dear Barbara,

    Thanks for your email.

Well, my Naylors are from Suffolk I believe.

There's only a couple on my tree and here's how it goes:

Thomas-----Mary(not sure but possibley Chinery, as below!)
Nailor/Naylor ?Chinery?(IGI; m. date abt. right & in nearby town)
    |
    William Steel*----Prudence Naylor
b.1834(abt.) b.1734 St James Icklingham, Suffolk*(same as husband)
    |
    William Steel---------Mary ?
    |
    Henry Steel--------Miriam Paine
    |
    Charles Edward Steel
    Edwin Bedford Steel
    Christopher Bedford Steel
    Alison Steel
    Troll Steer
    Jess Fox

I really have very little else to go on as far as my Naylors are concerned.

I did do an IGI search and found many Thomas Naylors born in Suffolk in about the right time only as for place, none were either Icklingham or Tuddenham I have no way of knowing where else in Suffolk my Naylors could have come from. As for the possible Mary Chinery, same problem.

There are other surnames on my tree I have much more info on like Steel, Robinson, Steer and such like but there's a good many I have little to go on like Naylor and Paine and more like that.

Sorry I couldn't add more to your search but I hope maybe some day there'll be more on these lesser known parts of my tree to talk about!

    Well, take care,

    Bye for now

    Jessica

    Default Hello Fred

    Dear Fred,

Thanks for your email. My Atkinsons as far as I've found were in Liverpool Lancashire but may well have hailed from Yorkshire and such like.

    My Atkinsons are as follows:

    Christopher Susannah
    Atkinson (1)----Williams
    >>Birthplace/time of both and occupation C.A1 unknown>>
    |
    Christopher Ellen
Atkinson (2)----Sutton (Farmers Daughter of Frodsham, Cheshire)
    b.1808 Liverpool b.1823 Alvanely, Cheshire
American Merchant(Sold hides in South Carolina;lived there in 1850's)
Apparently he crossed the Atlantic about 32 times!

    Mary William Ambrose (Died Young)
    Susan Christopher Frederick
    Atkinson Atkinson Atkinson
    b.1848 1857-1922
    Charleston Solicitor
    South Carolina
    Married in Liverpool 1867:
    Arthur Robinson (1843-1886?)
((They had ten Children in Liverpool; I am descended from the Eldest Ethel Mary Robinson (1869-1947) who married Edwin Bedford Steel (1871-1914) Ethel and Edwin had three children; I am descended from the youngest, Christopher Bedford Steel (1907-1943); he had one daughter Alison, b.1938, my grandma who had my mum in 1957. I was born in 1983))

I have little else on older Atkinsons; even the parents given here for Christopher Atkinson (2) are a guess as it appears to be the only IGI entry for a Christopher Atkinson born in about 1808; but his mum's surname is not traceable as Williams; in another record, if it is the same couple, Susannah's surname is something like Wilkinson or Wilkins when I was looking for a marriage of the two in Liverpool.

I'd love to know if you have any info on these Atkinsons.
    Thanks
    Bye for now
    Jessica

    Default Amendment

    Hello again,

    Sorry the tree has come out a bit wrong;

    It's :
Christopher Atkinson (1) m. Susannah Williams ((I think; maybe Wilkins?))
    They had
Christopher Atkinson (2) who m. Ellen Sutton

    They had three children;
    >Mary Susan Atkinson
    >William Chritopher Atkinson
    >Ambrose Frederick Atkinson

Mary Susan m. Arthur Robinson South American Banker of Liverpool

    Hope that's clearer!

    Bye for now

    Default The Steers

    Dear Em,

I have not traced my Steers to Devon but I wonder if at some point they came from Devon.

    Here's my Steer info in short starting with the oldest steer;
(The earlier Steers were of Bletchingly, Surrey then later they are of Croydon Surrey until Frederick Steer, born in York as his father was in the Army and was in Ireland then back in England then the family lived down south etc. etc.)

Thomas Steer m. 1670 Mary Wells

    William Steer m. Elizabeth Grinstead

    William Steer m. Martha Russell

George Steer m. 1779 Ann Weller

George Weller Steer <the 1st> m. Elizabeth Fowler of Nottingham
    Fellmonger> (1782-1838)

George Weller Steer <the 2nd> m. Susannah Southy
    Postman> (b.1828 Croydon, Surrey-d.1898 Croydon Infirmary)

Henry Steer m. 1889 Mary Ann Feeney in Dublin (Mary is from Co. Leitrim Ire.)
Medic Royal Army Medical Corps> b.1868 Croydon d.1929 Camberly, Surrey

Frederick Steer m. 1920 Florence Mary Clapp
Soldier RAMC> b.1897, York (But brought up down south) d. 1967

Peter Steer m. 1957 Alison Steel
Of Navy and Army; worker aeroplane factory> b.1930 Andover, Hampshire
    Lived/worked Netly, Southampton; d.1987

    My Mum
Early years, Actress/Waitress; now, Mum> b.1957 Fareham, Hampshire

    Me
    Writer/Artist; want to be filmmaker> b. 1983 Hampstead, London

I would love to know if any branches of the Devon Steers ended up in Bletchingly or Croydon, Surrey.

    Thanks

    Bye for now
