I'm a new member of the forum, hello to everybody.
I'm interested in finding out anything about my family origins.I think my great
,great grandfather came from Northhamton in the early 1800's and moved to Lancashire,in the Bootle area.
My father, Leslie Norman, was killed in 1946 in a motorcycle accident in the Netherton area.
    My mother's name was Lily.
Anyone that can help i would be grateful.

Hi My mum was born in Bootle, Hornby Road, then moved to near Breeze Hill. Whereabouts in Bootle did your family live? How far back do you definitley have them in Bootle? Have you got a copy of your parents' marriage certificate? I can't see their marriage listed on www.
lancashirebmd.org.uk, but it is not complete yet (mum's isn't on there either).

Thomas LEADBETTER is the brother-in-law of Albert Edward NORMAN. From FreeBMD, Albert Edward NORMAN married Mary Agnes LEADBETTER in June quarter 1892, West Derby Registration District volume 8b page 546.

Albert's father, John NORMAN was born in St Mary's parish, Nottingham (1881, 1891, 1901 censuses), Nottinghamshire, not in Northamton. He was married at least twice, first to Sarah in Nottingham (1881 census), then to Sophia in Bootle (1891 & 1901 census). I can't work out the maiden name of Sarah or when they married. John NORMAN married Sophia VESSEY Sep. 1885 West Derby vol 8b p517.

Do you already have the NORMAN family in the earlier censuses?

Hi, I'm Peter. My wife is daughter to Margery Davies. I gather Margery was sister to your mother Lily. We have been trying to make contact with any living relative. I guess you, Les, are the nearest we will get. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hello Peter,

    Welcome to British-Genealogy.

I presume that you've noticed that Les started this thread in 2007. He hasn't visited BG since 2010 but if he is still using the same email address he registered with when joining them he should receive notification of your post.
Fingers crossed because it would be so frustrating to be so near and then yet so far.
