    Default Nfk Lammas

My main area of interest is in the parishes along the river Bure, based on Buxton, Lamas, Horstead, Coltishall and Hobbies.

I have quite a few resources concerned with local and family history in the village and am happy to help out anyone with an interest here.

Many records are indexed on the Norfolk Transcription Archive, the URL to access the pages for Lammas is:

    Default Cubitt at Lamas

    Hello Geoffers
I am researching the Cubitt family who were from Buxton -Lamas area. William Cubitt married Mary Hall at Matishall in 1747 but their son Jonathan was christened at Buxton in 1760 and Jonathon was living at Lammas in 1785 when he married Agnes Scarlett.

Have you any information re people in Lammas at this time?

    Thanks
    Carmel

William + Mary had three children baptised in Buxton:

14 Feb 1756 Mary daughter of William + Mary CUBIT
21 Aug 1757 Thomas son of William + Mary CUBIT
7 Nov 1760 Jonathan son of William + Mary CUBIT

Jonathan and Agnes only married in Lammas; four children were baptised in Buxton:

    from the registers
7 Jul 1786 Mary Agnes daur of Jonathan + Agnes CUBIT (late SCARLET) born 2 Jul
26 Feb 1788 Thos son of Jonathan + Agnes CUBIT (late SCARLET) bn 25 Feb.

    from the ATs
30 Aug 1789 Sarah daur of Jonathan + Agnes CUBIT (late SCARLET)
(11?) Apr 1791 William son of Jonathan + Agnes CUBITT (late SCARLETT)

Thomas CUBITT was the man who 'rebuilt London' see:

click on 'Village History' and then 'people' for some brief notes on him and the title of a book about his life which may help you further.
