Did the tree-owner refer to the death certificate? Basic info from early certificates can often be found on Family Search, but only the basics.

    Hi Lesley
It is the actual image of the death certificate the owner, dommorgan68, has posted on their Dowd Family Tree .

Confirmation of Chris' finding - there is an 1856 death cert on Scotlands People for Mary Ann Kirby age 30, other surname Mcmillan, mother's surname Wales. I do not, at the moment, have enough credits to download it. There is also one for Mary Ann Kirby, other surname Fletcher aged 81 (the only one with that combination of surnames), but it's for 1876 - 20 year later. Both were registered in Mochrum.

Looks like 2 different women, but I'm on my post Christmas economy drive so won't be buying SP credits to check for a while.

PS 1856 certificates are the least informative for Scotland - panic after they were flooded with info by 1855 certs (the most informative ever).
